With the massive influx in new Aussie retail investors over the past couple of years, it’s become apparent that there’s also never been more people who need a hand just getting their heads around the basics of starting to invest.
Go on any form of Australian social media, and you’ll see the same questions repeated over and over again – sometimes daily.
I know, because several years ago I was one of those same, annoying idiots.
“What is an ‘EFT’?” (it’s spelled “ETF”, brother). “Which broker should I use?” “Should I buy (ridiculously speculative stock X)?” “My portfolio is 50% VDHG 30% DHHF 10% VAS 5% NDQ 3% IOZ 2% RIO, is this good?” “Thoughts on (shitty stock X)?”… and so the Cosmic Noob Ballet, goes on.
It also doesn’t help that a ton of the available information out there for those actually willing to research is American, and often not relevant to the ASX and Aussies in general.
Add this to the fact that most of the existing Australian investing websites/content producers out there are either paid PR promotional mills for companies, people just out to pump stocks they hold themselves, purely ‘passive’ ETF investors, or chart-heavy ‘day traders’ (with little in-between) and… well, here we are.

As a result, I’ve set up this site to act as a lightheated, no-bullshit look at some of the most frequent questions investors have, specifically targeted at Australians.
The aim here is to talk about stocks and investing in a casual, down-to-earth & semi-serious way instead of the pretentious manner of overpaid suits at investment banks, or idiot crypto kids & stock pumpers posing in front of rented Lambos – in short, to be basically “anti-pump”.
This is a growing collection of guides, tongue-in-cheek looks at Aussie stocks, polls & deep-dives on Australian companies, and general ASX-related chatter for you to peruse and/or hate on at your leisure.
What this site ISN’T:
- Clickbait thumbnails & headlines.
- Pump & dumps of shitstocks.
- Shitcoin drivel.
- Paid shilling of shitty scam micro-crap stocks.
You won’t find any of that here, so if that’s what you’re looking for, the e-door is ➡ that way.
At the very least, if you’re a newer investor, we hope you find some of the info here useful.
